Re-work Your Resume

Recently I have been on the search for an internship for the summer. It is about that time in my college career that I look to gain some real world, hands on experience. I found an internship I am very interested in and realized I have to give it all I’ve got. When you are one of 100 applications, what is going to make yours stand out? What makes you worthy of that interview?

The key to this in my opinion is aesthetics. No doubt, it helps to have some killer experience listed on your resume but aesthetics capture the eye. Imagine someone going through a stack of black and white resumes, why is yours one that they actually read and notice, rather than just skimming over.

My resume was in a little need of TLC. I hadn’t revised it for a few years and things had changed, I had improved my experience a little. I also was on a mission to make my resume more aesthetically pleasing and not so business-boring. To do this, I went through several revisions, font downloads, and research to come up with a better design that is more pleasing to the eye. Maybe even add a little dash of color. Be daring; it will get you just a little further that your girl next door.

What are you doing to make yourself stand out?
